The sword of Guillaume was a weapon used by the Norman crusader Richard de Guillaume circa 1066, during the Norman invasion of England. De Guillaume used the sword to slaughter the residents of Brighton, when they resisted the Norman takeover. Nearly one thousand years later, the sword was taken from de Guillaume's tomb and used to behead Hugh Dalgleish and Jenny Russell, two people whom Marcia McIntyre, the assailant, bore a personal grievance with. The sword was also used to sever Giles Shawcross's spinal cord, thus rendering him permanently wheelchair bound.
